Flourished Painting

The exhibition “Flourished Painting” displays 26 works that transit throughout Delson Uchôa's creative process. His work mixes paintings and art objects with high scale and varied supports, such as fabric, leather, resin, rubber, and canvas. The display also includes photographs.

According to the curator Moacir dos Anjos, the artist's painting is living matter, an experience that transforms the look. “There is a warm color that dominates the painted space – almost always of large dimensions – and its immediate surroundings, provoking the elongated stimulus of the retina”, he says.

A member of the “Generation 80”, Uchôa brings together a bit of his extensive trajectory in the exhibition, which includes passages in the biennials of Venice, São Paulo, Havana, and Cairo. His works are also part of the collections of various institutions, confirming the importance of his work.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON) holds the exhibition “Pintura Vingada” (“Flourished Painting”), by the artist from Alagoas Delson Uchôa, which will be inaugurated on April 18, in Room 1.

Curated by Moacir dos Anjos and jointly curated by Steve Coimbra, the exhibition unites 26 works that move through the artist's entire creative process.

“If art provides a reconnection with our essence, the work of the contemporary Delson Uchôa sensitizes by provoking genuine emotions in its audience”, says director-president of MON, Juliana Vosnika.

She informs that, in this solo exhibition, the artist presents works that bring a collection of experiences and experiences. “Perhaps because of this immense legacy, they provide enriching exchanges with the visitor”, she says.

His work is paintings and art objects with elevated scales and various media, such as fabric, leather, resin, rubber, and canvas. The exhibition “Pintura Vingada” also includes photographs by the artist.

For Secretary of Culture Luciana Casagrande Pereira, it is a great honor to receive the emblematic artist of the so-called “Generation 80” at MON and to provide this meeting with the public from Paraná. “Delson Uchôa's work is proof of the universality of art, representing Brazil at international biennials. Now, we will be pleased to share in your artistic expression”, he says.

According to the curator Moacir dos Anjos, Delson Uchôa's painting is living matter, an experience that transforms the look. “His paintings by him are flashes: first they blind and only then do they light up. In all of them, there is a warm color that dominates the painted space – almost always of large dimensions – and its immediate surroundings, provoking an elongated stimulus of the retina”, he says.

A member of the “Generation 80”, Uchôa brings together a bit of his extensive trajectory in the exhibition, which includes passages in the Venice, São Paulo, Havana, and Cairo biennials. His works are also part of the collections of various institutions, confirming the importance of his work.
